With the hot, smoky weather we are having in Kamloops this week, taking your exercise routine inside is a great idea.

Here is a simple, energizing sequence to follow for the next 7 days:

Sun Salutation Sequence

  1. Mountain pose- start in Mountain pose
  2. Sweep arms overhead, inhaling, lengthening torso
  3. Swan dive/forward fold, hinging from the hips, spine long, exhaling
  4. Monkey- inhale, lengthening your spine and bring your torso parallel to the floor
  5. Forward fold- exhale to forward fold, lengthening through the back on the legs while not locking the knees
  6. Reverse swan dive- inhale to Reverse swan dive
  7. Chair- exhale to Chair, sitting your weight back on your heels, lengthening your spine and lifting your heart
  8. Mountain pose- inhale back to Mountain
  9. Swan dive/forward fold- exhaling
  10. High lunge- inhaling, gracefully lift the right foot and step back into High lunge, hold here for 2 breaths
  11. Forward fold- exhale, step right leg forward to meet the left, coming back into Forward fold
  12. High lunge- inhaling, gracefully lift the left foot and step back into High lunge, hold here for 2 breaths
  13. Forward fold- exhale, step the left leg forward to meet the right, coming back into Forward fold
  14. Mountain pose- inhale back to Mountain
